One spring evening, on the way home from one of our favorite restaurants, Koenig's in Floral Park, New York, the original version of "Hey Jude" was playing on the radio in the car.  My wife was pregnant with our son and we had not decided on a name yet.  My wife, her sister (who was visiting from West Virginia) and I started singing along with Paul McCartney (who was on the radio, of course).  Right after we sang "Ju-Ju-dee-ju-dee-ju-dee-ju-dee-ohhh", we knew we had to name our son Jude.  So naturally, the song has a special meaning for my family and me.

When I saw "Hey Jude" in the track listing of Tom Jones' 1969 album, "This Is Tom Jones",  that I was listing (on eBay), I had to listen to it.  Since I was listening to side 2 at the time, I had to flip the record over and drop the needle on the last track on side 1.

Needless to say, Tom Jones took the song and made it his own.  Not quite as good as the Beatles, but very enjoyable, nonetheless.  I'm not a big Tom Jones fan -- my wife is -- but I have to say, his "Hey Jude" kicks ass!

I would like to thank everyone who bought records from me last night (while I was out with my wife, seeing the New York Dolls play at The Fillmore in New York -- awesome show!), whether you bid on them, used the "Buy It Now" option or both. I just finished sending out invoices for last night's activity.

Next, I see how many buyers paid. 23 -- great! So I know that I have to box up 23 orders. Not a problem since I received my order for 200 boxes a few days ago and I have plenty of reinforcement pads and shipping tape.

I wonder how much money I have now! All I have to do is go to paypal.com and....."Page Not Found. Firefox can't find the server at www.paypal.com."

So I checked the router. The lights all seemed to be working properly. I tried to go to paypal.com on another computer, but still no luck. I waited a half-hour and tried again. Still down.

OK, so I'll list a few records and try again later. I go to Auctiva.com, log in and go to my listings page. There, I noticed that there were 26 "errors" in the batch of 62 items I scheduled to upload last night. So I clicked on the '26' to see what the problem was and found that I needed to make a payment on my eBay account.

No problem, I'll just go to my account in eBay, click the Seller Account link and make a payment using the 'one-time payment' option. This wouldn't be a problem, if the paypal.com server wasn't down!

OK -- back to doing listings. I can't do that either. For reasons unknown, I am unable to see the images in my saved listings. Instead, I see white squares with "No Picture Available" displayed for each saved listing. No doubt some maintenance task is being performed at auctiva.com.

I guess I won't be able to print PayPal shipping labels either, so I might as well just take a break. Hopefully, the people at PayPal and Auctiva will get their systems working again soon. Let me check just one more time.

Oh well, everything is working again. So much for taking a break. Get my tape gun ready! Hey look -- 3 more people paid! Thanks!
